Shark Championship Standings Week II

Ahhh yes, the second-coming of the SCS. That is to say, the second week of them. They're not Christ-like, at least not yet.

These are the SCS's here, folks, not the BCS. So those of you thinking you're going to see Texas at #1, think again. Here in thesharkey camp, we believe the #1 team is the #1 team until proven otherwise. Sure, USC only played Washington, but they still dominated the game start to finish. That's no reason to drop them a spot.

And to all the critics questioning the placement of Notre Dame at #6, I ask you this: Which of the teams below Notre Dame would you put the house on to beat ND in a Bowl Game right now, with Charlie Weis & Co. having a month to gameplan for it? I can't think of any. In fact, and this may just be Irish-bias, I could see ND rising as high as 4 in the SCS at some point, but not while there are 5 other undefeated teams ahead of them.

And yes, I'm aware UCLA is still undefeated & still below the Irish. But they are rising in this weeks polls, and will have their shot at glory soon enough.

Lastly, before I get to the rankings themselves, I'd like to take a moment to recognize Wellington Mara, who passed away today. The man not only made the NFL what it is today, but also college football, to a lesser degree. Rip Duke.

Now, onto the rankings. Last week's can be viewed by clicking the "Shark Championship Standings" link on the right.

Honorable mention to Rutgers for my buddy Logan. He's a Rangers, Knicks, Mets & 9ers fan, so he deserves a little light in his miserable sports life. Rutgers @ the Insight Bowl should help a bit.
